In the Upper Silesia power sector two cogeneration power plants located in Bytom play a significant role, i.e. Szombierki Cogeneration Power Plant – one of the oldest industrial plants in Bytom founded in 1920 and Miechowice Cogeneration Power Plant now operating as Complex of Bytom Cogeneration Power Plant Inc.

Complex of Bytom CPP Inc. produces heat in cogeneration i.e. together with electric energy this way contributing to fuel consumption reduction significantly limiting emission to the environment and notably reducing CO2 emission.

The market for heat produced by the Complex is the area of Bytom. The city heat demand is estimated for about 800 MWt. Among local heat suppliers the Complex of Bytom CPP Inc. is a definite leader and supplies about 40% receivers.

Characteristics of the heat produced by the Complex of Bytom CPP Inc. and transmitted to receivers:

ECOLOGICAL – noiseless, odourless, does not contribute to air pollution,

SAFE - no fire, asphyxiation or explosion hazard, failure-free heating equipment,

COMFORT – maintenance-free warm flat and warm usable water, no nuisance connected with fuel transportation and storage,

ATTRACTIVE – the most effective heat source in urban agglomeration, tariff price is not subject to sudden changes.
